ABOUT

Overview of CultureShock NGO

CultureShock NGO was founded by Dahlia Neiss as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  It serves as a way to connect various communities through a shared experience, allowing for a cultural exchange for everyone involved.

Started in Washington D.C. and now expanding in Los Angeles, CultureShockNGO creates programming in communities that experience historical marginalization and disenfranchisement.  We partner with several organizations, some of which include The Boys and Girls Clubs of Pasadena, Burbank, and Santa Monica, Girls Inc. Shields for Families, Anthony Bowen YMCA, Hillsides, A Placed Called Home, and more.

Overall, the goals of our programming include immersing youth in activities not readily available to them, introducing youth to activities in the arts and nature, and promoting positive changes in mental and physical health.  Our programs typically meet on a weekly basis and focus on technical skills, mentorship, personal growth, and leadership development.  Our hope is that the youth stay involved in our programs as they continue to grow.  Upon graduating, we help participants who are serious about their development in the arts and nature to continue to pursue programming at a more professional level and are also given the opportunity to become program leaders.

MISSION

To join communities together through programs that use the arts and nature to inform, educate, and connect the youth
